1. Delete from within the app
The quickest way to delete your account is in the app:
- Open the MyKaniko app and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm your identity with your MPIN (or a one-time SMS code) and confirm the request.
Once confirmed, your account is deactivated immediately and your personal data is deleted or anonymised as described below.
2. Request by email
If you cannot access the app, email us from the mobile number or email associated with your account:
- Send an email to support@mykaniko.com with the subject “Account deletion request”.
- Include the mobile number registered to your MyKaniko account so we can verify the request.
We will verify your identity before deleting any data to protect your account from unauthorised deletion.
3. Before you start
To protect you and the other party, we may ask you to resolve the following before your account can be deleted:
- Active bookings or requests — complete or cancel any ongoing service so no job is left in progress.
- Wallet balance or pending settlements (Mechanics) — settle any outstanding balance, hold, or payout first.
- Open disputes — allow any open dispute to be resolved.
Account deletion is permanent. Once completed, you cannot recover your account, history, or wallet records, and you would need to register again to use MyKaniko.
4. What is deleted
When your deletion request is processed, we delete or anonymise:
- Your name, mobile number, and profile details;
- Your MPIN and authentication data;
- Your saved vehicles and saved contact persons;
- Your location data and device/push tokens;
- Your chat messages and support conversations; and
- For Mechanics, your uploaded verification documents (government ID, selfie, NBI clearance, COE, NC II) and proof-of-work media, subject to the retention exceptions below.
5. What we are required to keep
The Data Privacy Act allows us to retain limited data where necessary for legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention reasons. After deletion, we keep only:
- Transaction, wallet, and commission records — retained for the period required by Philippine tax and accounting laws. Where possible, these are kept in a de-identified form.
- Records needed to resolve disputes or fraud — kept only as long as necessary for that purpose.
- Records we are legally obliged to retain — kept for the period the law requires.
These records are not used to contact you or for any purpose other than those stated. See our Privacy Policy for full details on retention.
6. How long it takes
In-app deletions deactivate your account immediately, and personal data is deleted or anonymised shortly afterwards. Email requests are actioned after we verify your identity. In all cases we aim to complete deletion within 30 days of a verified request, except for the limited records described above.
